Eligibility to Submit

Nominations are open to all parties. The following entities are welcome to submit an innovation for consideration: 1.The Innovator(s): The individual or team directly responsible for creating the development. 2.The Rights Holder: The organization, company, or institution that owns or manages the intellectual property. 3.Third-Party Nominators: Any other individual or entity (e.g., industry analysts, coaches, journalists, users) who wishes to bring a qualifying innovation to the committee’s attention.

Submission Requirements

• Innovation Information: a)Official Name of the innovation (device, method, process, or program).b)Primary Category for consideration. c)Detailed Description of its function, operation, and application within baseball (500-word maximum).d)Statement of Impact: A clear explanation of the problem it addresses and the measurable or potential improvement it delivers.

• Supporting Evidence: Submissions should provide verifiable proof of the innovation’s existence and application. Acceptable evidence includes: a)Photographs or diagrams of the device/implementation. b)Links to demonstration videos (5 minutes maximum). c)Data summaries, test results, or white papers. d)Publicly available articles, patents (number), or product listings.

• Contact & Verification Details: a)Submitter Information: Name, email address, and affiliation (if any) of the person completing the form. b)Innovation Steward Contact: The name and contact information for the primary individual or organization responsible for the innovation (if different from the submitter).

• Submission Agreement: The submitter must affirm that: a)All provided information is accurate. b)They have made a good-faith effort to ensure the submission is eligible. c)They accept the award’s terms and conditions.

The Submission & Verification Workflow

• Phase 1: Initial Nomination. Any party completes the online submission form. An automated acknowledgment is sent.

• Phase 2: Steward Verification. The Award Secretariat will contact the listed Innovation Steward (the creator or responsible organization). The steward must: a)Confirm the accuracy of the submission details. b)Provide express permission for the innovation to proceed in the judging process. c)May be asked to provide supplemental materials.

• Page 3: An innovation formally enters the judging pool only after steward verification is received. If the steward cannot be contacted or declines to participate, the nomination is respectfully withdrawn.

Submission Period & Deadlines

• The annual submission window opens on Feb. 1 and closes on July 31.

• Incomplete submissions or those missing verification after the deadline will not be considered.

• Extensions are not granted, except under extraordinary circumstances at the sole discretion of the Award Secretariat.

Confidentiality & Intellectual Property

• All submission materials will be treated as confidential by the Award Secretariat and judging panel, used solely for evaluation purposes.

• The act of submission does not transfer any intellectual property rights. The submitter and innovation steward retain all rights.

• Information made publicly available by the submitter (e.g., public website, published patent) is not subject to confidentiality.

• By submitting, the steward grants the award program a limited, non-exclusive license to use provided images and descriptions for promotional purposes related to the award, should the innovation be selected.

All inquiries regarding the submission process must be directed to the Award Secretariat via the contact form on the official website. No individual judge should be contacted regarding submissions.
